In a club in the South Side of Chicago, in a swirl of colors, Claudette Miller cries on her Pillow Full of Tears. In her soulful blunt voice, she shares her pains, her miseries, the smacks and whacks of life. “You holler when you hurt, feeling the moment,” she explains. Until the liberation, and another scream. “A Claudette special,” she adds. Then she is feeling good, “really good.” Sings some more, full of revived delight. “Hopefully others can receive some of it.”
