Going Back to Mississippi, “that’s where my baby is.” Powerful voice, forceful screams. Born Elnora Jean Wallace in Greenwood, Mississippi, she was the seventh of 16 children of a sharecropper and singer. As a child she bathed in the blues at her grandmother Mary’s juke joint. Her own career started when she moved to Chicago. She has since written over 700 songs, about her life full of passion and pain, triumph and despair. She sings Broken Heart, Tearful Blues, and... Going Back to Mississippi.
